Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

Effective Date: July 3, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs the use of Tech Trek Academy's website, learning platform, Discord community, live classes, downloadable resources, and all educational materials ("Services").

By accessing or using any Tech Trek Academy Services, you agree to comply with this policy.

1. Purpose

Tech Trek Academy exists to teach ethical software development, artificial intelligence, automation, and entrepreneurship.

Students are expected to use the knowledge, resources, and community provided by the Academy responsibly, professionally, and lawfully.

2. Permitted Use

Students may use Academy resources for:

  • Learning software development
  • Building personal projects
  • Creating portfolio applications
  • Freelance or commercial software development
  • Research and experimentation
  • Business automation
  • Educational collaboration with fellow students

We encourage creativity, experimentation, and innovation.

3. Prohibited Activities

Students may not use Tech Trek Academy resources, services, or community spaces to engage in illegal, harmful, or unethical activities.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Illegal Activity

  • Violating any applicable law or regulation
  • Fraud
  • Identity theft
  • Financial scams
  • Phishing
  • Money laundering
  • Distribution of illegal materials

Unauthorized Access

Students may not use Academy resources to:

  • Hack systems without authorization
  • Bypass authentication
  • Access accounts without permission
  • Exploit security vulnerabilities for malicious purposes
  • Circumvent software licensing or digital rights protections

Educational discussions of cybersecurity concepts are permitted when conducted within legal and ethical boundaries.

Malware

Students may not create, distribute, or intentionally deploy:

  • Viruses
  • Worms
  • Ransomware
  • Spyware
  • Keyloggers
  • Trojan software
  • Botnets
  • Credential-stealing software
  • Malicious scripts intended to harm others

Instruction involving defensive cybersecurity, secure coding, vulnerability analysis, or malware analysis may be presented solely for educational purposes.

Spam and Abuse

Students may not use Academy resources to:

  • Send unsolicited bulk email
  • Operate spam campaigns
  • Generate fake reviews
  • Manipulate search rankings
  • Harass individuals
  • Conduct denial-of-service attacks
  • Abuse third-party platforms

AI Misuse

Students may not knowingly use Academy instruction or AI tools to:

  • Generate deceptive content intended to defraud others
  • Create deepfakes designed to impersonate real individuals without authorization
  • Produce malicious code intended for unlawful use
  • Circumvent security protections unlawfully
  • Automate harassment or abuse
  • Violate the terms of service of third-party platforms

Responsible experimentation with AI technologies for lawful educational purposes is encouraged.

4. Respect for Intellectual Property

Students must respect copyrights, trademarks, licenses, and other intellectual property rights.

Do not:

  • Redistribute paid course materials
  • Upload Academy recordings publicly
  • Share proprietary downloads
  • Copy another student's work without permission
  • Submit copyrighted work as your own

5. Responsible AI Development

Students are encouraged to build AI applications that are:

  • Transparent
  • Lawful
  • Safe
  • Respectful of user privacy
  • Beneficial to end users

Students should consider the ethical implications of the systems they develop.

6. Use of Third-Party Services

Many projects will involve third-party platforms such as:

  • ChatGPT
  • Claude
  • GitHub
  • Supabase
  • Vercel
  • Cloud hosting providers
  • APIs
  • AI model providers

Students are responsible for complying with the terms and policies of those providers.

Tech Trek Academy is not responsible for violations of third-party agreements.

7. Community Conduct

All members are expected to:

  • Treat others respectfully
  • Encourage learning
  • Offer constructive feedback
  • Maintain professionalism

Do not engage in:

  • Personal attacks
  • Harassment
  • Threats
  • Hate speech
  • Discrimination
  • Excessive disruption
  • Spam
  • Unauthorized advertising or solicitation

8. Confidential Information

Students should not post:

  • Passwords
  • API keys
  • Authentication tokens
  • Client confidential information
  • Private source code belonging to employers or customers
  • Personally identifiable information belonging to others

Students are responsible for protecting their own accounts and credentials.

9. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of conduct that violates this policy, please notify Tech Trek Academy promptly.

Reports will be reviewed as fairly and confidentially as reasonably possible.

10. Enforcement

Tech Trek Academy reserves the right to investigate suspected violations of this policy.

Depending on the severity of the violation, actions may include:

  • Educational warning
  • Removal of content
  • Temporary suspension
  • Removal from Discord
  • Removal from live classes
  • Permanent dismissal from the Academy
  • Cancellation of access to course materials
  • Reporting unlawful conduct to appropriate authorities when required

Serious violations may result in immediate termination of access without refund.

11. No Obligation to Monitor

Tech Trek Academy is not obligated to monitor all student activity, communications, or projects.

However, we reserve the right to review publicly shared content or content voluntarily submitted through Academy services when necessary to enforce this policy or protect the learning environment.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or Academy operations.

Continued use of Academy services after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
